Winter is here. As we usher in a new year and new season, it’s time to reset.
Living in a colder climate during the winter gives you a different perspective of the season, than a milder southern and western state.
In the North East there may be delays for work and school if there is inclement weather. But in the South everything practically shuts down at the hint of snow or ice.
These two dynamics bring me to the thoughts of those that will create plans, goals, and implement new routines during the winter months. Versus the others who will take the slow mornings, rest, and recharge approach during the winter months.
Neither approach is better than the other. Here are 7 easy tips that incorporates both aspects to create a reset routine this Winter.
What is a Reset Routine?
A reset routine is a proactive approach to recreate order and help navigate transitions in self care and personal development. The routine is created to help you build consistency and stay on track with your personal needs and goals..
Step 1: Reflect and Set Intentions
Take some quiet time to reflect on the past year. What were your achievements, challenges, and more importantly what lessons did you learn? Once you’ve taken complete inventory. Its time to set your intentions by writing down your goals and aspirations. In order for this to be effective you want to write down no more than 3-5 goals. Make your goals a mix of lofty and easily achievable. Also add in both short/long term goals.
Step 2: Detox Your Environment
Start by decluttering your spaces – home, work, and phone detox. Get rid of unnecessary items, and take time daily to go through unread emails, unsubscribe from e-newsletters, and subscriptions. Take inventory of the people you follow on social media and unfollow them if their message does not align with your life. Organize your space to create a sense of order and calm. Consider adding elements like scented candles or essential oils to enhance the ambiance.
Step 3: Embrace Mindfulness
Incorporate mindfulness practices into your daily routine. This could include meditation, deep breathing exercises, or yoga. Find moments of stillness and relaxation to center your mind and reduce stress.

Step 4: Nourish Your Body
Establish a nourishing diet with nutrient-rich foods. In the winter try to Incorporate warming foods like soups, stews, and herbal teas into your meals. Hydrate well and consider adding immune-boosting foods to your diet to support overall well-being and help combat illness.
Step 5: Move Your Body
Stay active, even in the colder months. Choose activities that you enjoy, whether it’s indoor workouts, outdoor walks, or winter sports. Regular physical activity contributes to both physical and mental well-being..
Step 6: Establish a Sleep Routine
Prioritize sleep for overall health. Set a consistent sleep schedule and create a bedtime routine that promotes relaxation. Consider incorporating activities like reading or gentle stretching before bedtime.
Step 7: Creative Expression
This step is about tapping into your creative side to bring joy and fulfillment to your routine.Dedicate time for creative expression and self-discovery. Engage in activities that allow you to express yourself artistically, explore new hobbies, or simply have fun. Try activities like reading, drawing, painting, take a cooking class, or begin to learn a new language.
